Thinking of getting some for the front lawn but have a couple of questions can you buy direct and fit your self and what things do you need to consider before hand, prep of ground can you join it etc.

Anyone who has done this and what is the average prices and if it is worth it?

Thanks C

Loads of people used to do it in Dubai. The ground has to be well compacted well before you put it down as obviously there will not be any grass roots holding it together but beyond that it just needs a hose down to get the dust off once in a while.

He might live next to a mine for all I know!

I DO NOT miss that dust...miss the lack of tax and the cheap cars every day but never the dust!

A mate if mine did it himself but his ground prep wasn't as good as it needed to be and he ended up with a few depressions.

The problem was he had no way of fixing them without lifting the whole thing!

Back on topic...

I bought some wholesale and did 14m2 at the side of the house, a drying green.
took a fair while and quite a lot of effort, but sure was cheaper than paying someone else.

moving the existing pavers, and moving in a ton of Bluestone were the hard bits.
Cutting the lawn to size is laborious and get some old scissors to do it with.

things to note :
you need the bluestone to about 7cm depth, do the maths and figure out how much that will cost you.
the grass comes in specific widths - depending on the size you have to fill, the join can look ugly.
I was lucky and the area was just below that width, so no joins, much simpler.

If it HAD to look good... I think I would pay someone.

photos on request with an email address so you can see the stages.
