McRae Motorsport Rallysprint Series 2013 / 2014 [WA]
Discussion
This coming Sunday (21st July) sees the McRae Motorsport Rallysprint 2013 / 2014 season opening with the mid-year rally.
The Rallysprint series is a series of tarmac rallies that are run at the Perth Motorplex through the summer. We always get sell out entries with everything from a 70 year old lady in her daily driver Toyota Yaris through to full tarmac rally prepped supercars.
Yes it is that McRae, Alistair calls Perth home and sponsors the series. He can usually be found driving a course car and occasionally giving out passenger rides.
I will be starting my 2nd season as a driver in this series on Sunday with WeirdNeville in the passenger seat calling pace notes. I am in car 44, Silver MX5 with Speedwest.net stickers on it.
Spectator entry is free and there are plenty of areas to get a good view from or you can go and stand right next to the startline and watch everyone launching at 30 second intervals. There are 6 stages being run through the day as well as a motorkhana and Polaris are there to give passenger rides in their offroaders.
More info, stage maps and entry lists can be found here: http://www.rallysprints.com.au/
The days programme:
Scrutiny & Documentation Commences 9.30-11.00am
Reconnaissance Commences (clockwise) 9.30-10.30am
Drivers Briefing in the Scrutiny Building 10.35am
Start of Event 11.00am
Reconnaissance Commences (anti-clockwise) 1.00-1.30pm
Estimated Finish Time 4.00pm
Trophy Presentations in the Scrutiny Building 4.15pm

It is a steep learning curve to try and do pace notes, people spend years getting it right. Really you did do a bloody good job! Spending half the morning not knowing what RBR and RBL meant did not help though
