How easy is it to bring a porsche 911 from Aus to uk?
Discussion
Easy.
Its legal to use and drive a car in the UK for less than six months, it does not have to be taxed or registered as long as it has a Rego in Australia. It can keep Australian plates too.
It does however have to be insured to drive it on the road - This is where your problems come in. You will need a specialist insurer and expect to pay a price for this. Without insurance his car can be seized and crushed.
Look up Hagerty- they might be able to help you out.
Costwise, your looking at about $2k to get it to the UK, Probably same again for insurance whilst there. It will not be insured for anywhere near the Aus value either so best not crash it.
To get it back circa $1800 plus cleaning fee's and import charges- round about $2500.
So total would be approx $6500 plus allow some contingency fund.
If it were me, I would just fly over and buy a 944 turbo for a fraction of that cost, use it and sell it for almost same money when leaving.

This Is what I have tried to tell him, that I could easily buy a boxster or 944 over here, do the run and sell it again for what I paid but he is adamant he wants to bring his car but I guess we will see what happens thanks for help. Its legal to use and drive a car in the UK for less than six months, it does not have to be taxed or registered as long as it has a Rego in Australia.
