I just had a brainwave -I think!

Given cars are so expensive here, if you wanted to drive a Aston/Porsche etc you could buy one in the UK, get a Carnet de Passage, ship the car here, drive it for a year then ship it back to the UK, then do it all again.

What am I missing?

Hassle, don't you have to leave a deposit for the customs value in case you don't leave?

I imagine insurance would be pretty tough to get also.

I looked at getting my R1 here on a Carnet for a year from the UK. Shipping in a bike crate from UK to Perth, plus the cost of the Carnet, plus the cost of the duties etc that YOU STILL HAVE TO PAY, despite that fact you are agreeing that you wont dispose of the bike here, was going to be close to 5000 pounds. You cant even crash it and leave it here, let alone sell it, yet you still have to pay a load of bullst taxes.

Aggghhhh!
