Came down to a junction with a stop sign and slowed down had a look road empty so failed to stop and turned left at said junction and police man ran onto the road and flagged me over.

Not had any experience of police in OZ yet but basically he took my licence then returned with a fine no chat or reasoning behind this and said I may get points but not up to him and to drive safe??

Is it worth going to court over this or just accept it seems a bit harsh pros and cons please.

Welcome to Australia! Get used to it!

Its a common revenue raiser, it's also a total BS fine in my opinion, wait by a stop sign and ping everyone who rolls through. You legally need to stop for a full three seconds.

No fighting it, you were in the wrong.

My friend (an Aussie from Sydney) had same thing in Sydney 2 weeks ago but also got lectured about safe driving and how he was putting his child (in the back seat) in danger, the copper was about 20. My pal tells me that he said he was driving when the copper WAS his daughters age (3). Still got a fine, might get points, waiting to hear.

Welcome to oz!

Good old honest revenue raising - they don't dress it up as safety here.

Suck it up and just go with it- however I have a couple of good contacts who are ex police and both say that if you get pulled by 1 policeman just deny deny deny as its their word against yours and a court usually wants 2 police voices against yours.

Thanks think I will pay the fine and learn my lesson, makes you mad as most people are driving or weaving around the roads pissed but they are targeting an empty road stop sign.

Cheers guys
