Hello chaps,

A mate and myself have found ourselves at a loose end for a few days, and fancy getting out of Perth. We have found some cheap flights to Adelaide and were thinking about heading across. What's it like?

For what it's worth we've done Melbourne and Sydney and enjoyed them both. Adelaide flights are the only commercially viable ones given the two or three day trip. We are into having a few beers, seeing a few sights, that sort of thing. Pubs rather than clubs at our age.

Any recommendations on where / where not to see, good areas for nightlife, things to see etc.

Cheers.

If you can hire a car you get up into the Adelaide Hills where there are a few wineries and the old German settlement of Hahndorf, or head out into the Barossa valley. In the city itself the Central market on a Saturday is always worth a visit, and you've got the Botanic gardens as well.

If the weather is nice you can get a tram out from the centre to the beach at Glenelg.

We normally go out on Rundle street which is full of restaurants and bars and is always quite lively.

I'm a big fan of Adelaide it's got a nice relaxed vibe, but that's from a UK perspective.

Big country town when compared to Sydney/melb. Worth a trip even to tick off the 'been there, done it" box
