So the VF is due out in June, is it worth me holding out until then if I am looking at VEs? I only really want to pay about $25k, which can currently get me a reasonable SSV with possibly some toys / mods alredy done (been down the DIY route, would rather let someone else pay and enjoy), but I don't want to get one and see the value immediately fall off a cliff....

Or is the market already pricing in the new car release? Are people going to be chopping in there VEs againt a new car as their finance runs out?

I seem to swing between one of these and a slightly older vintage WRX STI of which I have prior experience and have a sinking feeling might be more fun....

I doubt prices will drop massively. Have a look at VZ prices, I think there is usaully a bit of overlap.

They are advertising the 2012 plated v6 "on the road" for about $36k I think.

I'm really hoping that HSV do something awesome as a send off for the 'dore. I was hoping for dual clutch and flappy paddles on the standard car.

Hope there is another 'big' car coming after, otherwise it'll be VXR Astras with more LEDs and bonnet vents by 2015.

Anyone know if it is worth waiting for a bargain or is that just not going to happen?

Not sure....I am thinking people are trying to get rid of their VEs before the VF comes out and lowers the resale. I would have liked a VF only they didn't put the new engines in them or even the 6.2 litre LS3, like they are doing in the USA, which is a bit annoying.
I believe the VFII might get the LS3 or the new LT1 engine. Have read the VF HSV GTS might have something nice in it.
Back to VE SSV...nice cars....I am watching them too, even though I have a ute. Also watching the FG Turbo sedans...Not a fan of the styling on either the VEII or the FGII.

I dont think they will crash as much as I hope they do. I wouldnt put off buying one if its cheap enough - anything that is currently mid-$20k's and up I think is due for a slight slide but anything below $20k I think is quite stangant price wise especially here in WA where things dont move that much.

When in the UK a new model always signals a sharp downward price sprial on the outgoing model but here it doesnt seem to have that effect. If you look at the older models (especially in V8 form) they arent that far from the VE. If you look at the VE Omega/International boggo models they really are quite cheap in comparison however I think the interiors look dated especially when you compare to the FG Falcon at the same price.

Motomk - I'm selling my G6E Turbo soon if you're interested wink
