I think the WA election will be replicated in a few other states. Only need a few seat swing for it to be a Labor loss.

......It's like UK politics but with all the issues removed, so you just get the slanging matches and infighting.
Sure is. You only had to listen to the pre-WA-election radio ads to know that they spend more time slagging off the opposition than they do promoting their own good ideas.

I'm going to build a railway line to the airport.
No you're not, I'M going to build a better version.
My version gets closer to the airport.
Well, my version gets closer to a different terminal.
You're version requires a bus.
etc. etc.

I would suggest that neither side has anything to offer the country with their current lineups and morality. banghead

They are 1 seat from losing any form of control and look at the election what happens - its going to be a landslide and Labor will be on their arse.

We have governmental affairs at work and the gossip behind the scene is they know they are out and are quickly getting stuff done as some form of warped legacy. The Super changes are a terrible idea as another change to the system will start to unravel the confidence that built over the last 10 years and will erode the beneficial value of the system. People will continue to push money to investment properties as a retirement vehicle due to the greater controls.

Labor are a terrible government - enact matters now to get their budgets in line and screw the future. Just like british Labour.

Gillard is ineffective. Abbott is morally reprehensible.

Can a legitimate third party run please?

Wow, I thought Bob Ellis just sat around howling at the moon, like any other madman. I had no idea anyone actually read the garbage he produces.

Colonial, could not agree more! Here in Queensland we had jokers and clowns in, nothing was done properly and believe me I was involved in enough meetings at "top levels" to know. then in came "Can do", we had a meeting with PWC the other month, their head of R&T started the meeting off with "If you are in Qld then you are F#@ked!" he was not joking, its better to have clowns than these people they are dangerous.

Is this why Rudd wouldn't run against her - writing already on the wall so step in post loss and pick up the pieces?

It would be mine, the factions would loose all power, its the way I'd do it.Not running was smart, they will have to hand it to him on his terms, those who fell on their swords would be rewarded. Having said that they may prefer to loose than give it to him.

Sorry Dave, that doesn't work too well.

Newman is back up to 60% in the pols. People have seen that the entire 14 thousand bureaucrats were doing not a damn thing that helped the public. Tough on those who lost their income, but a great thing for tax payers. On the current pols Labor would have just one seat in QLD after an election this Sunday, & it's only going to get worse.

I'll think you'll find that most people have now woken up to the slimy Rudd. They can see him as a self obsessed little would be dictator, with absolutely no interest in the people of Oz. He will never again gain popular support when the time comes to put the cross on the ballet paper.

As the heading says, Labor screwed, & they did it all themselves.

The worst thing for me is losing the NBN to Turnbull's moronic plan. It's one of the most forward thinking projects Australia has seen in some time.

It's running 6 months late? So what? It will support us for the next century.

Look at it this way, every other street will have a powered aggregation cabinet on the street corner for the local yoof to practice their "graffiti skilz" on or up a power pole and the last mile delivered by unreliable 50 Yr old copper. Or if you're very lucky you'll get it via highly congetsted 4G.

Couldn't agree more about it being a uturn to the dark ages.

I could also be tempted to have a rant about Scott Morrison but that can wait for another time. furious

I was looking forward to the NBN rollout but having seen the comments above I'm not so sure! Can someone give me a synopsis on the project so far and what it's actually going to give us?

Highly doubtful that many on here would be labor voters as most of us work for a living.

Oh and as for the NBN... I would much rather they spend the money on roads, (what should be a 20 minute commute takes me an hour)and TBH I don't give a toss how long it takes you to download your movie.

State of the internet here is a joke though.
If you had decent broadband there's a good chance that a third of the people getting in your way on your commute could work from home. 2 Birds, one stone.
The economy will be driven by digital access. To be so far behind is shameful IMO. Every new home should be fibre to the threshold, the NBN is an essential part of keeping Australia prosperous. Invest now or fall further behind.

It's about priorities though, there is only so much to go around, the current clusterfk is only interested in buying votes.

The state of Perth roads is a far bigger joke, although not funny as it costs lives and hundreds of thousands of manhours every week.

I laugh at the clutching at straws critisism of Tony Abbott by gillard and her few supporters. No substance, but if they say it often enough the faithful will repeat it ad nauseum.

Hopefully it will be at least a generation before labor get anywhere near office again, at least we can thank gillard for that.

I said it before but don't think it was on here, I feel sorry for any young female politicians, the slag has set their cause back decades.
