Why dont the Aussies have a true home grown supercar? I have been stopped about a bizillion times (maybe a slight over estimation) today by people wanting to ask about the Lotus.
There is clearly a market due to the number of Porsches, Loti, Ferrari's etc and with the Aussies so damn patriotic I cant see it failing.
It would have to be along the mid 90's TVR mould, rear wheel drive with a stonking V8......
If only I had a spare 200 million

Is there really a market for it?
I much prefer the UK for driving pleasure, less rigid speed kills mentality, less potholes, better (more local) driving roads, cheaper prices of cars, cheaper maintenance bills & more competent mechanics. Petrol costs more though!
All this, plus drivers at least 10 times better than Aussie drivers.I much prefer the UK for driving pleasure, less rigid speed kills mentality, less potholes, better (more local) driving roads, cheaper prices of cars, cheaper maintenance bills & more competent mechanics. Petrol costs more though!
A "sports car" here means a ute or auto HSV that you drive to the football...

Just back from 4 weeks and >1000miles driving... The potholes and road condition in UK is shocking, all over, from Southampton to Aberdeen. As an Australian living in the UK I don't find the condition of the roads ie potholes any worse than the Oz roads. Although on B roads the lack of any space to pull over or do a U-turn is not so convenient and of course the volume of traffic you have to live with. However the diversity of driving roads, more disciplined road users and less fixation on precise speed enforcement makes for a more enjoyable driving experience on UK roads.
Having said that, I did just come back from Australia after a drive on the Putty Road, think we passed 4 cars in the whole 160kms, driving thru wilderness area probably the size of a number of counties in England !
