Currently trying to sell the wifes Fiesta, its a 2011 with 23k on the clock, LX so has all the toys just not the boy racer bodykit. We are expecting anyday and its just too small.
Its been up for several weeks without a single serious call. Its up for 15k, (cost 20k a year ago but at dealers here in the NT would have been 24k). I have been offered 9k from a dealer which is just pathetic and even less from a gaggle of indians.
For reference up here in the NT a 2008 base model Toyota Corolla with 70k on the clock is currently the same price as mine, it seems that because of the new government and massive price rises everyone is selling and heading south- consequently means the car market is flooded.
I put it on Ebay with a 13k reserve (which would have made it the cheapest in the country) but bids didnt exceed 8k.
Any ideas??
already on Car sales etc

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but if you're not getting a response it can only mean:
a) there's something wrong with the car as perceived by buyers;
b) the market is just slow; or
c) your price is too high.
Given it's a Fiesta which is a very well-regardard machine, it can only be b) or c). Which unfortunately means you're going to need to drop the price to get the response you want.

People at work are stating its too cheap but given you can now buy a new one for circa 20k I dont think so. I know the market is slow so guess I will just have to wait.

My recent experience in selling an immaculate one owner, full service history Mazda 2 will not be encouraging to you.
We had one come in spinner, [probably a dealer] type offer in the first week, at a ridiculous price then nothing for 8 weeks.
A drop of $1000 brought an inquirer about 2 weeks later who bought the thing. There was only one other inquiry in the week from when he said he'd take it, to when he actually did.
The price represented depreciation of about $6500 the first year, & $2500 each year there after. I believe it really only sold, as it was the only auto advertised in the price bracket.

Mine is significantly the cheapest in the NT (by nearly 2k) so I would have expected something. The cheapest in Australia is only slightly less than mine and it has x3 the mileage and is a year older.
Seem destined to keep it for a while, I told the missus we needed a mondeo when she bought it!!

we have the Mazda 2 as well, if you are strugling to get a baby seat and pram in the back it might be worth trying some different options. with the captule rear facing we had to put the pasenger seat all the way forward in which case i at 6'5" am just able to get in the front with my knees hitting the dash. we had to try a few seats to find one the fitted. same with the pram but in the end have managed. it wasent long and by about 9 months we had turned the seat around. i have since bought another seat for the other car which does the age bracked from 1 year to 9 years.
ended up going with a mountain buggy swift for the pram and a safe and sound compac for the seat. I think they have changed the design since we bought it though. worth asking if you can trial fit the seat before you buy.
time goes so quick.
not sure how its going to work when we get around to having our second.
congrats and best of luck
Regards Ryan

few ideas.
your opening photo is not great, this is what people are going to notice first when scroling through the options on the compurter and even more so on a smart phone. its probably the only bit of info on the phone.
shoot from a front 3/4 view at a lower angle with either early morning or late arvo light. angle the front wheel towards the camera. make the car fill the pic. if you can get some other diagonal leading line going towards the car then that would be even better. maybe add the shipping price to ship to other states into the add?

to be honest I dont think shipping interstate would work- they are cheaper down south and then there is the shipping cost. I am aiming more at the local market.
I am also 6'5 , the stuff will fit at a push but I wanted something bigger. we can manage if we have to, I have people at work willing to do temporary car swap if needed. just a pain in the proverbial I was hoping to avoid.

I think you're right about prices up there. My daughter recently sold a Astra to someone from Darwin. The buyer reckoned it was cost effective to come down from Darwin, buy & drive back at Brisbane prices.
Still I think you was a bit too high, if you want to move it quickly. If you are getting enquiries I'd stay with it, but if no calls, you'll have to drop it to get some.
It is a good check to get a quote of trad in price, then add a couple of thousand. You get more than the trade price, & the buyer saves a thousand or more. Every one's in front.

didnt change a thing- started Friday night and non stop phone calls since.
Sold (technically) to first person to look. They collect this week.
She arrived in a Honda CRX Sport and said she was downsizing, needed to sell hers first..... hmmm I thought.
cut a long story short- doing a straight swap, no cash changing hands, 2006 CRX 4x4 sport with every extra, 80k, fsh - worth between 16-18k. both parties very happy.
I am selling her mine for 5k and vice versa so we also avoid heavy stamp duty charges. We are both main dealer servicing a re-rego'ing our cars before swap.

Great result - selling a car is a painful process, and I'm still waiting for that person who wants to downsize from an M3 to an MX5... Edited by james280779 on Monday 11th March 04:03

I wouldnt hold your breath! besides an MX-5 is much better than an M3. Just pull off the 'X' and you have an M5- nobody will know the differencejames280779 said:

Probably right, and having just come back from a top-down, evening blast, I'd miss it, but its tricky to get four people, legally, in the Mazda, and that is what I need to be able to do.james280779 said:

You don't know quite how close to the truth you are - looked very, very hard at an E34 M5 just up the road. Really just too big and heavy for a toy.congrats.
im in the same position you are at the moment, only that the current car is getting a bit long in the tooth and would like to upgrade to something newer. only problem is i cant find anything i like at a price i think is reasonable. Looking for a sporty mid size wagon/estate.
so on the list are Audi Avants, Subaru Liberty, BMW 3 series wagon... all seem to be silly money.
choices choices.....
