I see the same cars up on Carsales from around 6 months ago - some of which must belong to PHers here?

I was wondering what the selling experience was like, lots of low-ball offers and test-pilots or no contact?

I'm in no rush to sell the car, but want to get a reasonable price for it (at least cover my costs so far!), so was thinking about putting it up and waiting. It seems to be $60 for as long as you want, which seems pretty good.

$60 does sound a bargain for unlimited time.. especially as there has been a T350T on the web in Sydney for over a year.

TVRs don't seem to be moving... especially personal imports which all the Tuscans and the T350T are.

Good luck when the time comes..

The T350t is owned by a Collector who has lots of high-end cars, so assume he's perfectly happy for it to sit there until it gets the right price.

I thought something around the $65k mark would be more realistic for mine, no point sticking it up for $90k for years... it's also a 2006 which is significantly newer than anything else out here (and as new as you can actually get wink).

Isn't there one in the Classic Throttle Shop? Is that the 'collector' one?

trouble is only people who know are ex-poms, Australians have absolutely no idea what a TVR is or capable of. The ones that know and love them usually already have one.

I dont think I have seen a single one sell in the four years I have been here unless dropped well below market value.

I enquired myself about a reasonable priced Cerbera but he then ignored me completely when I asked about the essential rebuild as it was approaching 27k. It disappeared from car sales that weekend.

I was wondering how you would go supporting a TVR over here? How do you get them serviced/spares etc?

Not had an issue with parts/servicing for the Chimaera, but then plenty of other cars that use the Rover V8, would expect the S6 to be a bit trickier probably requiring more parts to be sent out from the UK but still not exactly rocket science.

There does seem definitely to be a disparity between what we as owners perceive our cars should be worth, and what they are actually going to sell for without sitting on the market for years waiting for someone interested and prepared to spend the cash coming along.

Very very limited market, and if genuinely wanting to sell I'd be thinking get the car along to as many enthusiast car show type things as possible with for sale signs on it. TVRs always draw a decent crowd when on display so potentially more likely to get interest that way than someone going specifically searching online for them where the fact nobody really has a clue what they are makes that less likely.

well obviously its difficult to say a market value when they are sold so infrequently. Maybe I should have said far below what I would have expected.

I had a speed six and because I am shipping over at some point (when I decide the UK is no more for me- I kind of live between the two at the moment) I have sold and reverted to a well sorted RV8 Chimaera just for ease of parts etc.

I would definately consider one of the LS engined Tuscans though if it came up - parts are sooooo easy here to get hold of.

Aside from the pre-1989 and racing only catagories - post 90's Chimaera's, Griffs, Cerbs, Tuscans, T350,Tamora, Sagaris will ALL be personal imports or only available for shows/ racing and not allowed on the road.

No, I believe some were sold locally and built in Malaysia (IIRC).

Value is a funny one, as they are so unknown.

Yes the market value might be what I can sell it for today in a fire sale, but when you look at the prices for anything comparable in performance then the price should be much more.

That's always been the way with TVRs though. I've always wanted one; lovely looking thing.

stand corrected, they only produced Chimaera's and alot were sent back to the UK apparently, but some made it to Japan and Australia.

so anything but a Chimp will be a personal import and even then I think a UK built one will be worth more than a Malaysian built one.

Redbook shows Griffs and Chims as being sold here 95-03 and 97-03 respectively. So, should be some out there that aren't imports.

List price of a E36 M3 was about $130k I think, and they're now going for less than $20k.
