I may be heading back to Perth for 12 months and don't fancy buying a bike there when I have a very good one here. They're too expensive there!

Ive read up on the carnet scheme but I wondered about the practicalities of it in real life. Any experience?

(Yes yes, I know a 1000cc Sports bike is all but pointless on the over policed roads, but I'm thinking of tracking it a fair bit.)

Are there any other PH Perth bikers? Tim, I'll be giving lessons if you need them..... wink

I would have thought your total cost of ownership of a local bike would be much less (considering hassle) than importing yours temporarily.

Cost of ownership, possibly. But I don't have the capacity or desire to make the initial purchase. Plus, I don't want to sell my current one.

hehe I'm improving slowly Pete, can't rush these things at my age... did another trackday a couple of weekends ago, it was insanely hot, don't think I progressed much but more laps is good.

Can't offer any advice on bringing yours over, but I'd agree that buying then selling one here would probably be more economical, have you checked on bikesales or PSB?

ETA you've disappeared from FB?

Have looked into it. The costs to get it out of customs are ridiculous. Not worth it. I can buy a decent bike for around 5-6k by the looks of it. It will cost me that to get mine there and back.

Yeah, closed my FB down a few months back. Best move I ever made. Does anyone rent track bikes for trackdays at Wanneroo there?

IMO Prices are much and such. I moved to oz in Jul 12. Ah the time my ZX10 was 27 months old and only 2k on the clock. I checked out all the prices and second hand bikes looked very similar. It just wasnt worth the cost and hassle of still owning an imported bike and the hassle when selling etc.

My friend is now buying the bike and this year I get to buy a new one, woohoo!
