Since arriving here I've noticed occasional blue coloured reflective studs in the middle of some roads - Just lik eyou get on the side of a motorway in the UK.

Initially I thought they were something the police could use to time you between points and catch you for speeding - I thought this simply because they're blue and it reminded me of the white squares the UK police paint on the orad for that purpose.

However, I've since noticed one in our road - Which is a cul-de-sac.

So what on earth are they for?

First result on google says: Blue — Usually used to mark the location of fire hydrants, as in North America

Yep - took me a while to work it out as you only really notice them at night. See them during the day and there's generally an arrow and an 'H' in white paint on the road too

Yep definitely fire hydrants. And you'll see them offset slightly left or right to the midline to indicate side.
