Possible Sydney relocation!
Discussion
Possibility that I'll be moving to Sydney from Brisbane with work, might be fairly immediate too.
Project is in the Moorebank area, but office is near the Harbour Bridge, but guess I'll be 95% project based.
I'd be looking for a house or flat share initially until the OH moves out middle of next year - although I need 2 car parking spaces!
Any recommendations for areas, or anything else I should know?

Any idea of the shower gel situation out there?
Currently mulling a potential move to Sydney from Dubai myself. Work is in North Sydney which I understand to be an actual district rather than a general area. Everyone I know keeps telling me about how expensive Sydney is!
North Sydney is literally that, a suburb just over the bridge from the CBD, the rest of the suburbs over the bridge are collectively known as the Northern Suburbs.Currently mulling a potential move to Sydney from Dubai myself. Northern subs are nice and yes, Sydney is as expensive as London, perhaps a little more so now. (Im from up North,so don't hold that against me :-)) I go over every year for 6 months as both my boys live there. A one bedroom flat in say Neutral bay, Cremorne, etc will cost around $450.550 per week if you go further to Manly or any beach area withing a 5k of the CBD it will cost more, a little further out towards Ryde etc will be cheaper but take longer to get to the city. Would love to take my car over as it gets little use here, but after looking at the forum here, its not to be as (A) I am not resident and (B) its too expensive.
If you are going to have to get out to Moorebank mostly, it might be worth looking somewhere west of Liverpool. Nice country air, & a reasonably pleasant drive, except for getting to the city, & there's trains for that.
I used to have a stretch of the road from Liverpool to Wallacia, where I used to tune my Morgan when I was racing it in the 60s. If it would accelerate from 40MPH to 110MPH, on a straight stretch from a cross road to a bridge, it was going well. Great speed limits in those days.
I tried living near work, & living near my playground, [the motor race tracks] & found it nicer being close to play. Give it a thought.

Take a look at Wollstonecraft, Neutral Bay, North Sydney, Kirribilli is also nice.
They are all 10-15 bus or train to the Central Business district and are more residential so you get parking more easily.
I pay $510 per week split between 2 people and have a 2 bedrom unit and parking space for that in Wollstonecraft.
If you go Eastern suburbs such as Bondi, Cogee and Tama etc the prices will fly up!

I would highly recommend Neutral Bay, Its pretty affordable although quite a bit more expensive than Brisbane, My apartment cost $550 per week for a 2 bedroom with great views and only a 2 minute walk to the Bus stop where there's regular buses to North Sydney taking 5 minutes and Wynyard (CBD) which takes 10 mins in rush hour. I did have a garage but the entrance ramp was too steep for the MX5 and the garage door was too low for the Volvo but there was loads of on street parking and its a really safe and quiet suburb.
