Hi, I'm currently a student, just finished my first year at University.
For personal reasons, moving to WA is what i want to do. I have family in Mandurah and my girlfriends parents are in Geraldton, She tells me that there are quite a number of immigrants from asia doing apprenticeships there, but from what i have seen, it's only the skilled migrant visa that enables you to stay.
Can anyone shed some light on this?
Thanks, David.

G'Day Dave,

I would do a couple of things.

First I would contact this mob and ask them directly. I don't like your chances but it isnt the end of the world.

Also, I would get your results from Uni and see what is transferable to Australia. Something that you could look at doing in coming over here on a 12 month working visa and look for sponsorship. I think the holiday working visa says that you can only work at the one place for a small time but most of my pommy mates are sponsored by who they work for. That is an option.

If you're prepared to start at the bottom...especially in mining...and back yourself, there shouldnt be much stopping you.

Sorry mate, I am not 100% sure. I "think" that's what some of my pommy mates have done. Look at the govt websites as I would hate to give you a bum steer. Best of luck.
