We're looking at a couple of rentals in Shoalwater, just south of Rockingham. I have a couple of job options, one in High Wycombe and the other at Henderson.

What would the commute be like ?

Henderson - fine. Come off at Russell road, kwinana freeway so maybe 20 mins.

HW - bit crapper - 40 mins use Roe Freeway

Thanks - 40 mins is really what I'd set myself as a maximum commute.

Still gonna be stuffed if I get a better offer NOR though!

Whats Shoalwater like anyway? The wife wont be working but says she'll be more than happy to spend the first few weeks in holiday mode on the beach.

Dammit - We've now found another desirable rental in Fremantle. Its still 10 mins walk from the beach and handy for the shops but is lacking that "holiday" feeling.

Toying with the idea of booking 3 weeks in each to get a feel for each area.

I would think Freo would be a nicer, more central and vibrant experience than down south.

To be honest, my thoughts are the same. However, my wife will be at home all day and quite likes the idea of the "beach holiday" feeling the Shoalwater place will offer - It's a detached bungalow with a reasonable garden including a patio and BBQ area with some trees for shade. Right in the middle of a residential area.

The Freo property on the other hand is best described as a mid-terrace bungalow with a patio area to the rear. No garden and just a pull-out awning for shade. Its a 10 minute walk to the beach, crossing over a main road along the way. It's on the edge of a residential area

I'll be the only one with a car.

The Freo property is closer to the CBD and work for me. It also includes free wi-fi.

Freo is $100 per week more expensive.

Both are a 15 min walk from a big supermarket (Woolworths in Freo and Super IGA in Shoalwater)

If it were me I'd go for Freo but I know my wife would prefer Shoalwater. I'm thinking of what she'd like and she's thinking of what I'd like so we're at a bit of a stalemate LOL!

The Freo property is one of the ones with a bright red roof here: http://g.co/maps/ncp3p
