Been a Perth about a week now and going through the process of finding a place to stay. Found the perfect rental property today and want to take it. Great place, owners, transport links and a nice area but one thing... It's directly opposite Subiaco Oval on Roberts Road. Will this be a nightmare (crowds, noise, anti-social behaviour etc.). Was lovely when we were there today when nothing was on but that is worrying me a little.

Can any of the Perth guys give a little info on what it's like on match day / concert night?

Thanks!

Wouldn't worry me. Crowds here not like footy crowds, and generally after a game most people leave quickly. Also good for taxis, trains and hey, if you want to go to a game/concert - perfect.

Expensive to buy there (as its nice area) good for subiaco (which is nice for cafe/drinks -try the $10 steak night at the llama bar weds as its great), not dirty area, not dodgy or violent.

Good spot there - take it if it's available.

As said, the AFL crowds are not like soccer crowds. They are more the scarf waving family days out, and you don't get a lot of "away" fans. I'm yet to see a punch up (off the pitch anyway).

It will be every weekend though (as Dockers and Eagles play there alternate weeks).

But the fans don't hang about, the free trains get most of them out within 30 mins.

But apart from that, it's a nice area. Easy to the city, good rail links. Get a season ticket to one of the teams and join in.

Now all you have to do is go to a West Coast Eagles game and admire the magnificent Wedge Tail mascot that flies the ground before the game.

A game of footy, there's nothing quite like the smell of the crowd and the roar of the jockstrap biggrin
