We've got a fair bit of household stuff to ship but nowhere near enough to ship a full container. We'd been looking at selling a load and shipping what was left in individual boxes... until now -

£600 for the medium size and £1000 for the large.

Mate bring everything - bulbs, batteries, everything! Sounds silly but you'll ditch stuff only to have to re-buy here and using Gbp to buy at $ prices and rinse loads of cash you'll need. At least once you earn inaussie $ you can then spend on the same basis.

Screw it - go buy stuff to fill the container as it might be cheaper than getting it here.

Look at www.jbhifi.com.au for electrical, Harvey Norman for furniture etc, bunnings for tools (it's B&Q here)

For £400 difference I'd take a full one and stock it with everything youll need.

And especially a few years' worth of tyres for the car/s if you are bringing one or two with you. You'd be shocked at how much tyres cost here !

and.................stock it full of your favourite beers.

I miss speckled hen, I get it shipped from down south. Costs me $150 for 24 small bottles including freight. That works out to 101.50 gbp a slab!

Off topic....not a drinker but I was sure I had seen this stuff when picking up wine for my folks.

Have heard to check where it has come from as a lot of the international beers are bottled in OZ and don't taste the same. Also the use by dates.

There is a bottle shop out Belmont way (in WA) which does English beers.
It's about $8 a bottle (a pint ish).

I got the Father-in-law a load of Hen, Finger, Fullers etc.

And I'd bring EVERYTHING. And go out and get microwaves, Dysons, TV's etc. Open the box, unpack it, and then re-pack it (so it at least looks like it's been used).

Beware of the insurance though. We had stuff broke and the costs to repair were more than the costs we put down ($500 for a handle on a $300 chest of drawers), so we only got the replacement cost. And we've been chasing payment for 9 months.

I bought loads, then sent them all back.

I went down Bunnings and spent an afternoon re-wiring everything instead.

Plugs are easy for me - I work for a plug manufacturer and we have literally thousands of them on the shelf biggrin

The Dyson idea is a good one - Particularly as I can claim back the VAT upon departure. However they're going to take up a lot of space in the box.

Or, ask the friendly local PH'ers if there is anything they want.

A downpipe would be smashing, thanks for asking hehe

Just pop up your UK address here and we'll get the stuff delivered to fill the container.

I'll dig out my list.

Dunno where you are and this may annoy you but my local (Lord Dudley, Sydney) sells a number of good beers including Old Speckled Hen...by the pint....its not cheap mind...but by god is it good! They do Green King IPA recently as well...a good little session beer I find....Sorry off topic again.
