Right then chaps, I need some advice!

I'll be arriving in Perth in August without a job (assuming I dont find one before then). I've been in contact with a lot of companies, some of whom have asked me to attend an interview upon arrival.

However, I really need to get some holiday accommodation booked for the first few weeks, preferably somewhere that's not going to be too far from work.

I've put al the potential employers on this map:

Those which have asked me for an interview are in the cluster just to the south of the airport, near Forestfield

So, where would be commutable to that area, without being too far from the beach for my wife - She can always get the bus if required!

I was hoping to find all the potential employers grouped in a couple of industrial estates on one side of the city but as you can see thats not the case - It would have made things a lot easier!!

To be honest all those places arent places I would want to live, let alone spend a few precious weeks of my holiday in. If you're interviewing then they won't be at rush hour time so just enjoy staying somewhere nice and enjoy the fact you have the time to travel anywhere on hols.

If I was to pick one the dianella/Morley is the most decent as you can then commute to any of those places.

If I was to choose for your hols, stay along the coast to on the sea side of the freeways, no further south than Rockingham no further north than Mindarie. That way you have a happy OH, feel like a holiday and no more than 45 easy traveling mins to your interview.

There's a few good holiday apartments at Hillary's that aren't expensive and it's a nice spot.

For rental info once you live here try www.realestate.com.au.

Thanks.

The slightly scary thing is thinking about what happens when we get to the end of our stay in the holiday rental. Everywhere I look I see stories of 20 people chasing each rental property. I'd happily pay extra for peace of mind if I could secure a 6 month rental before I arrive but It seems thats just not gonna happen.

Go to www.reiwa.com.au download the rental application form and send it off now to agents - big punt but you never know.

However you are right to be concerned, it is hard work to get a rental here. Get busy the minute you turn up, and go to every rental open.

I've already made 25+ phone calls to rental agents all over Perth, hoping the smaller ones would be a bit more flexible. However all of them said that they wouldnt even consider us until we arrive.

Of course the other problem is that if I commit to a rental in Rockingham but land a job in Yanchep, that's going to be a big problem (extreme example, but you see my point)

Are there any "cheap" holiday alternatives such as static caravan parks? A bit like you find on the Cornwall coast. {EDIT} Yes there are: http://www.banksiatourist.com.au/index.html

That one is out our way (between Kalamunda and Midland) and the owners are customers of mine.
