Brining a MotorHome to Oz
Discussion
A friend who owns a nice 6 berth here in the UK & is soon for Brisbane is about to apply to bring one with him.
Prices seem very steep out there.
For about 32k sterling assuming 1.5 FX rate + another 25% for costs, shipping, taxes etc, he reckons on about 60k Oz all in.
There isnt much out there on carpoint for that & having hired a few out there over the years, I know they cost a fortune to do so.
What do those in the know think & are we overlooking anything major?
Obviously the one that springs to mind is that this is for sealed tar roads & some of the stuff out there might be built better for real red dirt roads but I am sure most out them are just for mainly Tar roads etc.
I did Perth to Broome & also Sydney to Cairns in a "non offroad spec" Motorhome that I hired out there.
His Motorhome has a 3 litre Fiat Turbo Diesel,20k
2007, with an Autotrail body.
Will need AC adding but would have thought Oz is the place to get that done.
He feels bringing this is his only chance of having one as they seem so expensive out there...
Thoughts please.
