FIFO Mining - Brisbane?
Discussion
FiFo into QLD or FiFo into WA?
Don't know anything about the shift rotations at all, but can tell you that into WA there are 3 or 4 flight a week from Brisbane direct. 2 to Karratha/Dampier and 2 direct to Port Hedland. There are also a couple from Melbourne and from Sydney too. Even get one from Orange! Think one also comes from Brisbane for the same people and Essendon direct too.

This is about third hand, two weeks on, one week off and flights to and from Perth only for this particular place.
Other one I know of was a gas rig worker who had all his flights and accomodation paid for from Melbourne to the Northwest shelf but I can't remember what he was working. He had to stay the night in Perth on the way over as his flight from Perth left very early.

The details for the rig worker sound about right. A lot will depend on your qualifications, experience and how rare you speciality.
If you work directly for a oil/gas company then you will be on a very good deal. If you work for a contractor then it can vary quite a bit.
I work up in Karratha and fly the helicopters that shuttle rig workers to the platforms so have heard a number of accounts both good and bad regarding conditions and salaries. If you are brand new to the industry, you may find yourself being paid very well, but working very hard to earn it.

Work for Melbourne Air Traffic Control. Look after WA (Pilbara and Goldfields) and a lot of the Indian and Southern Ocean.
Bit quiet up there at the moment due the cyclone.
