The chap that sits next to me at work is going to move to Oz in just over a year so is looking to buy a car now and use it here in the UK but also to take it back to Oz and hopefully make a bit of money on it.
He will own it over a year so will avoid the 50% luxury goods tax

He is married with one kid so it needs to be a 4x4 or have 4 seats. He is only 5'2" so it cant be too big either.

I'd be grateful for some recomendations from people that know the local market. I was thinking of something along the lines of the following:

- BMW X3 (even tho personally I think they're awful)
- Porsche Cayene
- Panamera
- Maserti QP
- BMW 3 series estate/stationwagon
- Jag?

Many thanks

They all sound pretty gay to me.

If he only has one kid, a HQ ute usually has a column shift and bench seat so he is sweet there. If he cares about economy, tell him to get one with an LPG tank in the back.

Hope that helps. smile

Look up cost of cars on Carsales.com.au and compare. Then read the thread stickied and referenced with in the sticky...then make mind up if its worth it.

Bear in mind, right or wrong, locals will pay less for imported cars than Australian delivered ones too.
