Sadly it looks like the wheels have fallen off the marriage so I'll be moving to Perth on my own later this year - Whats life like for single British 30 somethings out there?

Sorry to hear about your marriage, I went thru a divorce some 7yrs ago, good opportunity for a new start. I come from Sydney (now live in UK) so dont know much about Perth, although the mining boom there means a great demand for jobs in and associated with mining, The economy in Western Australia is very mining based, at present it is doing very well. Perth seems to be a destination for alot of British, moreso than Sydney.

Good luck with the move, wages in Oz are much higher than here, cost of living a bit more expensive than here.

I'm a mechanical engineer / technical manager so not too many worries on the job front. I've gone for a 176 class visa meaning I can work in a supermarket in needs be and dont need to be sponsored by a specific employer.

Just dont want to end up bored to tears and single for ever laugh

Perth is great for a single bloke!!

Social interaction is a big thing here, people love going out with friends and there is plenty of places and entertainment to go to where there are other people. Lots of clubs to join to.

There is something to go out and see or do every day if you want.

Honestly I would not worry about it, very easy to make friends and meet people here.

The current headline in the local Sydney eastern suburbs free newspaper "latte Life" (I kid you not!)is "Man Drought in Double Bay"! Apparently there's a profound shortage of eligible 30 something men in the Double Bay area and an overflowing pool of wealthy, broody women desperate to grab a bloke and start sprogging - am I alone in finding that quite a scary thing? eek

Is that true or just a perception?

I'm sure there are statistics out there but to your average pervert it always seems like there are more women around than men and there certainly seems to be more attractive women around than chuds.

Start nosing around the dating sites for an idea. Oasis is a free one, redhotpie lets you do so much for free and is for those looking for a more...ahem...adult liason.

My wife says that a lot of girls at her work "find it really hard to get a man".

Apparently it's cyclical though, party in the summer and then hibernate in the winter. So if you are comming mid year, don't get disheartened if you are not conkers deep as soon as you get off the plane.

As an average pervert who understands there to be more women than men here I appreciate your knowledge of which dogging sites to use... wink

I know of no guys over 25 who are single but know a fair few wimmin who are and has always been the case here in Perth.
