Hi,
Going to be moving to Australia soon and have full no claims on my car insurance having been driving for 12 years. I passed my full motorbike test this year but have not bought a bike. I am looking to buy a bike in Victoria, I did a quick insurance check and it asked if I had any no claims discount for a bike or car. I put in the maximum discount from my car and got a good quote. I did it again with no discount and obviously it was massive. I think it was a bike only insurance but can't be sure. In the UK bike insurance is not transferable to a car and vice versa. So is it the same down under?

Thanks for any replies.

Hey,

I would ask your UK insurer for a printed and signed letter, stating that you have full NCB.
you can then present this to any Aus Insurer that asks.

as far as i know, Bike insurance only asks the question, "Have you been driving for 5 years with no accidents" therefore the document should be ok for a full NCB on your bike insurance as well.

good luck.

Thanks very much for the reply. That is what it looks like on the site I got a quote from. Do you know if you can use one set of NCB to insure two vehicles?
I will be sure to get a letter with the no claims on it.

Paddy.

We have never been asked to prove how much NCB we have. They just ask "any accidents or convictions in the last 5 years?"

I have jumped between having 1 and 2 cars heaps of times and the NCB has been applied to both cars.

Same here, my 65%NCB applies to my van, my car and my bike.

Never asked for proof, two cars here with same NCB.
