Time for the Honda to go (if in this market it can sell it for normal money) as i think something that can soak up roads without tarmac would suit me better these days. Also poorly license means it has not hit VTEC in over 6 months (criminal!).

Budget of 25k max, but very happy to spend less! Ideas have included;

Volvo XC 90 - like comfort - dislike costly transmission fault (not rare fault)

Landy Disco circa 2003-4 - like the fact its a true offroader - dislike interior and potential running costs.

Subaru outback or similar may suit my needs, as a true 4x4 would be wasted on me for t99.9% of the year.

Any suggestions of reliable cost effective 4wd "fun".

Being totally bias.

http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/dealer/details... Not really economical! Autos are ok but not the most modern shifting thing out there!

That LX8 would be fun.

Subaru Forester...the older shape square ones will accept WRX and STI drivelines as they are built on the same floor pan. A forester turbo is basically a WRX underneath and have quite car like handling in stock form.

I didn't know the LX8 existed. V8 is appealing, another itch scratched smile Thanks for the pointer.

Forrester sounds okay, but never totally sold on looks. Be good as a sleeper though smile

P38 was another option, but just that running cost worry, but would need to look into it properly. Would always be pining over a 322 though
