The standard ball size varies even from west coast to east coast here so no idea if a UK one will work.
If I remember rightly the standard electric hook up is 7 pins aranged in a circle but you do see various other shapes but you can normally buy an adaptor.
A good tow rig is expensive here. The 2000KG one I had fitted to my Commodore was $600 fitted including the wiring.

Quoted £475 here & thats one suited for a Range Rover Vogue, with a detachable hitch.
( Land Rover wanted approx £1300 )
Will take a chance & get it fitted here.
