Tow Hitches

Was going to get a tow hitch fitted here in the UK, but hope to be in Oz very soon.

Does anyone know are the ball hitches & electrics the same or if not easy to modify in Oz

The standard ball size varies even from west coast to east coast here so no idea if a UK one will work.

If I remember rightly the standard electric hook up is 7 pins aranged in a circle but you do see various other shapes but you can normally buy an adaptor.

A good tow rig is expensive here. The 2000KG one I had fitted to my Commodore was $600 fitted including the wiring.

Quoted £475 here & thats one suited for a Range Rover Vogue, with a detachable hitch.
( Land Rover wanted approx £1300 )

Will take a chance & get it fitted here.

Have a bit of a read here, it's Vehicle Standards Bulletin VSB1 dated 2009 that defines trailer standards which are aligned with Euro standards.

Most new cars are fitted with 7 pin flat plugs ( my last 3 were ) and the ball has been a metric standard for quite a while too.

I'd get one fitted here tbh. They have detachable (screw in) balls and the electrical connection is nothing like the UK version.

Aftermarket tow hitches seem to be readily available, so should be no problems.

All fitted here in the UK.
3500kg towing limit.
Detachable Lockable Hitch.
Cant even see it once hitch removed.

Great job & very happy with it.

Will get used here in UK & will modify or do whatever is required in Oz.
