Once again, we get an extended commercial break just as Alonso and Masa are about to pass.

These people must think we are fools.

TV off, VPN to UK.

Bye bye Channel 1, you are next to useless.

After an extended plethora of ads, insurance for enthoooosests, cures for baldness, male deodarant, motoring accessories and so on, we return to channel 1 for a replay of the action.....

I used Witopia, straight through to the BBC for unbroken high quality commentary - using Vivid from Perth. The poor anchor commentary of the Australian team and also the stupid ad breaks make channel 1 F1 a far, far inferior television programme. It really is C*ap.

It could be worse and be 7 or much delayed on 10 or much worse 9.

I would agree, but the fact is that the BBC is much, much better. No breaks, competent commentators and good editorial being the main reasons.

If all Channel 1 did was show the BBC show it would be great, even the full BBC show with minimal breaks would be a slight improvement. What Australia doesn't see is the comprehensive BBC 60-90 minutes pre-show with driver interviews / live pit-walk right before the race. Instead we have three blokes raising points anyone could make and then agreeing with each other.

I switched my VPN recently to Strong VPn. It's a bit better than before but can't stream in high quality so the image is pretty pants to the point I run it alongside the One coverage and switch to it when the ads cut in - not ideal but OK. Then I watch the Forum on Iplayer usually the next day.

I agree that One's coverage is poor and lacks imagination with those blokes being really very dull and little or no effort gone into the show. However, the BBC spend fortunes on their coverage and it's probably unrealistic to expect anything remotely as comprehensive from an Aus TV company. It's a shame One can't just show the full BBC coverage and ditch their (w)anchormen.

Being a massive F1 fan and new to Perth I am losing the plot, I agree they always have a advert just at the good bit and I so miss the grid walk. Why cant channel 1 just purchase the whole feed from the BBC. If they did it would also help the BBC pay for the high quality show they put on.

Now I finally have internet I will be looking at other ways of viewing VPN to a mates internet might be worth a try or one of the free streaming websites.

I miss good F1 coverage.

It's like going back to the days that ITV had the coverage in the UK. They used to put breaks in at terrible points.

I only have mobile broadband so I'm stuck with Channel 1's coverage frown

The oppositions preferred NBN solution.

( Sorry couldn't help myself )

I have vivid wireless, which runs at between 8-10mb/s and I use Witopia - good quality streamed TV from the BBC.

Or you could try this site for which, apparently, you do not need a VPN. (Use at your own risk).

watching crap coverage might be the least of our problems, the BBC will only show half the GP's next year and I am sure less in the future. They have sold out to Sky. But I guess it might mean foxtel gets it which might improve things, we will have to wait an see

How did I not find this when I was looking?! I just shelled out $99 for a wifi modem on Optus, now it looks like I'll have to move to Vivid. I am a sucker for tech/speed, I can't help it...

I think you are right. I am wondering if Foxtel might now run it accordingly. I suspect we'll get whatever the BBC transmit on One. I'm looking into what I will be able to get on Sky Sports via internet (as I pay for my Dad's satellite there and hence have a sign-on). At least it should be possible to watch all races live without having to watch One!

In any case, people in Britain will pay more (for Sky) and get less (excellent BBC coverage) whilst F1 will gain about GBP15M per annum extra.

If it is on foxtel I might actually start watching it again. I can record the races that are on at night and the ones I can watch live I can hit record and start watching half an hour or so in...with half an hour recorded I can fast forward through any ads or boring bits biggrin

I currently record the free to air coverage via my IQ Foxtel system and then watch on Monday, that way I can 12X through the commercials. Only problem is spending a day trying to avoid the results (and having a smug wife sitting opposite me saying "oh, you're going to love what happens next")

I have SKY sports channels 1&2 on my current Foxtel package so hoping those are the ones that will broadcast races next year BUT... I suspect F1 races will actually be Pay per View much like boxing, WWE etc...Which will suck.

Off to Utorrent at that point methinks

I'm pretty certain that the races will not be pay per view. It's not the kind of sport they'd do that with, the events are too regular and there's too much to cover (practice, quali, the race).

u need a program called "ex pat sheild" or something like that. there is a similar one made by the same people for the USA, only problem is you cant have them installed at the same time. So you can watch the BBC or Speed but not both.

Strange, I have Foxtel Premium HD package but no Channel 210 (channel one HD), seems I'll have to call them.

Watching the coverage now... interviewing Lara f$%^ing Bingle. What a waste of time and space. What on earth does this have to do with motorsport?? Honestly!?!
