I'm planning on spending a few days in Tasmania in the first week of January and am keen to make the most of the roads on offer, maybe do a few of the Targa stages!!

Anyway, I've looked in to car hire, hoping to find something a bit tasty and not found an awful lot on offer.

Europcar will do an A5 2.0T convertible which Mrs aussieal quite fancies. I found some other indepedent places that'll do a 2006 BMW 530i for a bit of rear wheel drive touring and there's a place that'll do a 993 tiptronic convertible which is very tempting but thinking space and reliability could be an issue.

Budget is around $1,000 for the 6 days we're there.

Can anyone recommend anything from personal experience?

Cheers

Al

Launceston car Hire. I had a Boxster for $160/day unlimited mileage. They've got everything from NA MX5s to a 993 tip cab and they're fantastic to deal with.

ETA: Obviously you've seen them, didn't read the 993 comment. I stand by my suggestion and I'm sure they have breakdown cover, just as I'm sure you wouldn't need it. I actually wanted the 993 but it was booked out.

Yeah, Launceton was the place I'd seen. Very tempted by either the 993 or the boxster.

Will drop them an email for a quote, only potential issue is that we'd be flying in to Hobart so would have to get up there somehow.

I'll have a look at your adventure.
