Anyone recommend a decent VPN server company?

I've been using Consult but they recently "upgraded" their servers which for the last month has meant download speeds of around 25kbps, that's slower than the first 26kbps dial up modems! rolleyes

I used consult-here too (from Perth) but more recently the BBC F1 and Moto GP coverage was impossible to stream.

I've tried a couple of others and they weren't much better AUS-UK.

Funnily enough, because I want to watch the F1 this weekend on BBC, just this morning I signed up to WiTopia as they had good write ups. I have tested them on BBC iPlayer and streamed TV and it works very well indeed so far. But note it is the middle of the night in the UK and a quiet time here. The acid test will be tomorrow during the race.

Cheers,

Marcus.

Thanks, I've just triend Strong VPN which a bit better but not much.

F1 is the main reason I use VPN but looks like I might have to stick to TIVO'ing the Aus coverage.

Pop back and let me know how you get on?

Cheers smile

I used it to watch the BBC qualifying last night and it was fine (there were a 4/5 2-3 second "hangs" but then it was fine thereafter for more than an hour). I am using the same internet connection and Witopia is more consistent than Consult.

It remains to be seen how well it will do in the race though, as the demand is so much greater. We shall see. Will let you know how it goes.

I should mention I use Vivid wireless internet and get between 4-10 mb/s typically.

It worked well in the race, there were a few short 3-5 second hangs during the race, but really not a problem and 100x better than consult-here.

Just seen this from another pistonheads forum. http://www.torresat.tv/

It live streams major UK tv channels including BBC/ITV/4 etc. Its free and it works pretty well if you have a fast internet connection but stutters if you don't.
