Hi all,

1. Have just bought Turtle Wax Glass Polish (was wanting Rain-X but couldn't find any) - does this stuff make any difference?

2. Having washed my car yesterday quite thoroughly I wanted to wax it today but it's raining. Since I've been out to get the glass polish the alloys are already picking up muck - so can I apply regular wax to prevent the muck sticking so much?

Ta! smile

Wrong forum.

However, I don't rate rain-x. Cleaning the glass is a good idea. I use the autoglym stuff to good effect. Turtle wax stuff is a bit on the low quality side.

A good wax following a proper clean will make everything easier to clean but won't help making it look clean when there is so much crud on the roads.

For particulalry dirty windows, glass polish is good. But you dont need it everytime.

Week-to-week, get a squirty bottle like you would use for the ironing and a high quality broadsheet newspaper. Wet the window, scrunch 1 sheet of newspaper up but leave a "pad" to work with, wipe dry with the newspaper. No dirt and most importantly, no streaks.

Theres a Bodywork & Detailing section lower down the main forum pages.

All you could want and more in there.

Do not wax your car now!

It has to be cleaned again, properly, then you can wax it!

Because you have driven your car since last clean it will have dust/grime on the paint/wheels which you will just rub in and spread around if you wax now.

Clean your car as best you can ( microfibre mitt not sponge) then dry with microfibre. I would use a polish such as lime prime or auto glym SRP first and when you have finished then apply a good wax such as collinite 476s or finishkare 1000p. This will achieve a great long lasting look. As stated get yourself over to the bodywork/detailing forum and see just how anal it is possible to be when car cleaning. Eye opening but hugely addictive!

a good wheel sealer sounds best for you, make sure wheels are spotless and 100% dry before applying tho. i dont like rain ex and use autoglyms glass polish once a month on my windows, hardly ever need the wipers
