Hi folks,

My wife is looking to buy a new Clio Sport in black but we think that the silver wheels would look so much better if they were anthracite.

Any places recommended to do the job? Obviously new wheels so no repairs, just taking off the laquer/paint and putting the right colour on. The dealer has quoted £80 per rim, which seems a little steep considering this. Apologies if I'm being naive about the cost, but all help very much welcome.

£80 per rim is definitely steep. I'd expect to pay no more than £50 per rim. There are several firms near me (in Sussex) that take in wheels, remove tyres, send the rims to Lepsoms in Kent, re-fit the tyres and balance. None charges more than £50. Lepsoms are one of the best-known firms, I believe, and seem to have a good reputation.

I think the dealer's just adding the Renault Tax onto their third-party prices.

Cheers Ben; I thought it was a bit dear.

The wife's gone ahead and bought the car (despite me pushing for her to negotiate a bit harder) so they have no incentive to be particularly helpful now.

Hopefully they'll remove the wheels (and maybe tyres?) so we can send them off. Got a couple of weeks before she collects it as she wants to wait for the 1st March. I'll try out the place you suggest and see what they'll charge.

Got the wheels done at a place called AVC in Romsey; £56 per wheel excluding tyre removal.

First impressions? Bloody excellent. And they make the car look much, much better.
