The wheels on my Surf are pretty badly messed up - I tried cleaning all the gunk off and after a bit of polishing they came up shiny in places but with a strange sort of white damage all over, like white snake lines under the surface. Here is a picture of it -

Can anyone suggest a way of polishing them up to remove or hide this damage? I can't afford a full chrome refurb and I'd rather keep them chrome and shiny than repaint them the typical alloy silver.

thanks
James

it looks as though the wheels have lacquer on them and that is what's blistered.

To strip the lacquer off use nitromorse. But then you will have to either re-lacquer them or look after them very well.

Is the stripping something that can be done safely with the tyres still on?

I have a spare under the truck so I've got a wheel to practice on at least.

Thanks very much, the pictures will be very helpful so that I know what to expect - I've not tried stripping laquer before, last time I repainted a set of wheels it was to a different colour so I just sanded them down and sprayed them.
