What's a good low cost polish/wax cleaning kit
Discussion
I have a cheapy car that I'd like to keep reasonably clean and tidy.Normally a daily driver hack would think its self lucky if it got a polish with some Autogylm. While the car always looked a little better,I'd like to take a step up with my new daily hack. I don't want to spend money on having someone come and spend a quater of the cars value cleaning it just the once, I'm more looking for a suggestion of a cleaning system I can do myself and that will give better results over a bottle of Halfords finest.
Reading past posts, it seems a clay bar is essential ? Car is a BMW metallic silver - if that makes a difference. I know I won't get the best results without spending the money, but please remember , low cost.
Thanks

Something like:
1. Lambswool wash mitt
2. 2 buckets
3. Decent shampoo
4. Clay
5. Meguiars step 1
6. Meguiars step 2
7. P21s
8. Couple of applicators (kept clean after use)
9. Some good quality micro fibre cloths
Probably £95 all in
Or if only shopping in Halfords you could swap 5,6,7 to:
5. Autoglym Super resin (top product)
6. Autoglym Extra gloss protection
But I think you'd be impressed by a decent low cost easy to use wax like P21s
I buy some of my stuff from here:
www.seriousperformance.co.uk/Products.html
Good prices and a great service.
Also have a read on DW:
www.detailingworld.co.uk/
But don't get hooked, it can get very expensive

That's a very good combo David has advised you of there...
To that list though I would add, above ALL 'products'...TIME and ATTENTION to detail!
IMHO, too many people get hung up on 'products' expecting that it will be some magic product or combination therefore that they can buy off the shelf that will yield the best results.
IMHO the most important factors are those that I've added to David's list.
Good luck!

Thanks David. That sounds about the right kinda price. The P21s wax you mention has been mentioned several times to me as a good quality wax at sensible money. Things will get expensive when I've completed the restoration of my other car.....
