Got to decide what to do with my S4, the paint work is looking tatty even though its mechanically good. Its a 1991 and has only done 30K but still I wouldnt think its worth more than 5K. Its also purple! or Amethyst to be precise inside and out, so I thought about getting a full respray and changing its colour (silver, white or black on purple could look pretty good, Guards red would be my pic but not sure it would work ok with the interior). After recommendations on here I got a quote from Specialised paintwork, who were very helpful,of roughly £6K which is probably a bit much for me considering the value of the car. Anyone know if thats high or low as a qauote and any recommendations for a cheaper alternative for a reasonable stamdard respray.

that sounds too much for what you seem to need.from that i mean no major repairs(ie rotten panels, accident damage etc).to strip and paint a different colour should cost from around £1500 for a good job, depending if you wanted the engine out, etc.

Sell it and buy a red one. Will be cheaper in the long run.

Too much money for something that will drop the value of your car. How far did their work extend ? By that I mean does this mean a full re-paint under the hood too ?

Cant drop the value any further and yes they were going to paint most the way into the bonnet.

hi i recently changed olour of my s3 tvr.had interior out .did inside boot under bonnet etc.thinking it would increase value so as could upgrade to griff..it looked amazing..much addmired..everyone who seen it could not beleive sprayed by mate out doors for under 1000 pound..trawled round main dealers looking for good deal on griff.major shock..no offers over 2ooo...all because none standard paint job.doh.managed to sellto independent dealer for good money eventually though.and get a nice griff.personally looking back wouldhave moved s3 on as a standard car and put money towards griff..only respay if thinking of keeping long term and mechanics/interiorwheels etc are of a mint nature.if not sell now and look for nicer one.hope this helps..ps you could always try a griff.
