Cleaning Polished alloys, help please folks
Discussion
Hello folks,
Any expert help gratefully received.
My wheels are in good nick, and are compomotive 5 spoke polished alloys. In order to get them shiny I was wondering what is the best stuff to get them nice and shiny. I don't want to use wonderwheels as I believe that is slightly abrasive. I suspect this would remove the polished finish...
Any ideas??
Thanks,
Mike.
PS Here's a photo of them for reference...

Mike,
Are the alloys clearcoated or raw alloy?
If they are clearcoated, then you can clay the wheels and then wax them with either a wheel specific wax or normal bodywork wax.
If they are not coated then use a good quality metal polish. Mother's do a very good Mag and Ali cleaner which is a paste or they also do a product called Polishin Pad. This is wadding impreganted with a cleaner. If you rub the wheel with a paste cleaner and the cloth turns black then the wheels are not clearcoated but raw alloy.
If you get no residue then there is a coating and you will just need to wash and wax them. Mother's also do a clear coat wheel cleaner.
There are also other brands that do wheel products. On my website, the mag and Ali sells very well.It is less abrasive than Autosol.
Hope this helps.
