Got a dent on the front of the bonnet of a clio, about 5inch in diameter and is depressed about half an inch in the centre. what do i do to remove it?

will a suction cup work?

if not any recomendations on who could do the work in Nottingham? and how much it'll be?

Your Yellow pages will feature loads of companies offering 'Magic Dent removal' I think they also use some sort of suction method but whether it is as simple as suction pullers I don't know. I would buy pullers first and try it myself.

i think 5 inches maybe to big for a dent removal guy, also u have to see whether they can actually gain access to it from behind or is there a strenghter bar behind it

ive never really heard of any1 using a suction method succesfully, just thought they were a gimmic. although they may be a new kind out you can use i dont know

best bet is so get a pro to look at it mate

Saw an old boy pull a sprung door skin using a drain plunger and a quick wipe down with a mutton cloth.
Most impressive to see and very pleasing to the lady who had just opened the door against a lamp post. Her other half's 2 day old car. She was not going home if it could not be fixed.

This thread gives you an idea of what is possible:

The guy who did it isn't local to you but I'm sure you could track down someone who comes recommended...

Wouldnt bother with suction cups, they never do much good. When a panel is dented, the metal is streched, and as a result the dent will just ping in and out. Most bonnets also have a thicker skin than other panels, thus making it difficult to remove by these methods.

Think your best bet would be to get the dent filled and painted professionally. If you cant afford that, I would just leave it alone, otherwise you'll just make it stand out more. It may be cheaper to get a new bonnet from a breakers and have it painted, even better if you could find one in the right colour!
