keen detailer here , cars always kept nice all year round , but so far a wax or sealant user

disappointing whatever i use seems to die off /fail on the bottom half of the car after some winter use

thinking i might try a ceramic i can use myself for next winter , does the whole car remain slick /beading or does that fade away too ?

I've mentioned this before on several threads.

Was recommended Car Plan No1 SuperGloss, glad i was.
Its cheap as chips and is very forgiving of my ham fisted application, basically spray on sparingly and wipe around then finish off with a clean dry cloth just as you would with any household polish or glass cleaner.

Used it on my tractor unit, it lasts several months at a time of several times a week washing with TFR, the paint staying appreciably brighter and smooth to the touch compared to the rest of the similarly aged fleet, 19 months old now just over 200k kms its had either 3 or 4 applications taking around 30 minutes at most.
Washing so much easier because the dirst just doesn't stick anything like normal.

Possibly a year or more one application on a typical car.

not ceramic but very good product , use sparingly , lasts well ,easy to use but don't leave it on too long , they say 10 minutes before wiping off I wait 5 minutes and don't get a problem , If you use it and it has dried too much reapply a little bit and then wipe off

The lower parts of cars get a hammering in winter , but I find the fusso products very good

1 bottle has done 6 cars in family and still plenty left

I did a full machine polish and ceramic coat of Carpro CQuartz UK 3.0. Highly recommended; very easy to do and the coating is still holding up three years later, though I plan to redo it all in the Spring.
I occasionally wipe the lower sides with Gtechnic tar remover, which is safe for ceramic coat.

The only reservation I have for a proper ceramic coat on a daily driver is that if you get any scratches, then its hard to polish out and treat without recoating the entire panel as you can with a spray sealant or wax.

Ceramic coats do not give you the mega-beading (which to be honest are a menace as you can get watermarks in the sun), unless you use a topper like Gliss or a spray sealant. You can still see some beading and sheeting though, which is what matters.

Bit late to this thread, but I too would suggest Fusso F7. It can be applied outside in cold weather, it's easy to use and it lasts well. I wouldn't expect it to survive the whole of winter on the lower parts of the car, but it'd be easy to re-apply, or top with Fusso Coat Speed & Barrier. I apply F7 with a low pile microfibre applicator rather than the included sponge applicators - makes it easier to avoid over applying, and therefore easier to remove.

If you've got a garage that you can warm up a bit then a light ceramic (CarPro CQuartz Lite or Gyeon Cancoat Evo) could be a good option, and should easily outlast Fusso F7.

I've used the Gyeon one. Does seem to last well but not years like they state. And it's fairly expensive.

It's so quick and easy to use a ceramic spray and redo every 3rd wash or so that I'll probably just do that in the future.

If OP has already tried various wax and sealants, I doubt CarPlan No1 SuperGloss is going to be significantly better.
Some spray and wipe/rinse products are really quick and easy to use, but I've yet to find one that lasts in winter conditions.

As with all things in life prep is more important that the product.

You really need to make sure the paint is ready for the ceramic coating.
Needs to be thoroughly decontaminated.
Needs to be polished. A) to correct any defects B) to remove anything thats already on there.
Finally it needs to be panel wiped to remove any last remnants of polish, oils or silicone.

Now you are ready to apply the coating.

To do a decent job you’re looking at 3-5 days work.
There’s a reason professionals charge a lot.

These coatings then need to be cared for which prolongs their life.

For your average home detailer a spray on wipe off “ceramic” is much easier and can give good results.

Summer time I use wax. Dodo juice blue velvet.
Winter I use collinite beadcoat. Spray on a microfibre and buff off with another.
Lasts 2/3 months but takes 10 minutes to apply.

A much longer lasting spray on is the SiRamik lustrous. This will easily last 6-9 months.
