Is this repairable as a dent? Any good specialists out there that could be recommended?

There will be a lot of dent removal specialists around, better to let them see it first. Maybe state your location and someone may have a recommendation, if you use Facebook I do find it useful for finding stuff like this.

Speak to a couple of PDR specialists for their thoughts.
The problem with aluminium is that when it dents it also stretches & you're then trying to put a quart into a pint pot & whilst there are such items as shrinking hammers they're not for PDR!

For what its worth, I had a small dent in the (aluminium) bonnet of my iX3 removed by a local dent man, and whilst it took him a little longer than usual to fettle, it came out absolutely perfectly. I simply cannot see any remnants of it whatsoever. Your dent however, may need someone a little more specialist due to the size I suspect.
