My business is ceramic coating cars. The key to a good gloss is removing swirls and scratches first and the key to a long last finish is thoroughly cleaning the paint after polishing. When applying the coating use at least two cloths, one to initially level the coating and another to buff it. Change cloths every couple of panels.

I recently did my wife’s car using Gyeon Prep then Can Coat Evo, which is close to bottom of their range of Ceramic coatings but is easiest to apply.

I washed the car, dried and cleaned with Prep. One cloth on, one off. Then did pretty much the same with the Can Coat, one on, one off., panel by panel. Really easy.

I didn’t bother with polishing as this was just a test but beading was excellent for a few weeks. It needs a wash again now so it’d be good to see how it holds up.

By using something like gyeon prep which removes any oils, residues etc left over by polishing, provides a perfect surface for your final protection choice to bond to.

I've only done a couple of cars but my observation is that ceramic coating won't mask minor paint imperfections in the same way a good wax will.

So prep is key.
