Hi all,
Ive recently changed my car from a 15 year old E Class to a brand new V60.
I have never liked washing my car by hand and the E Class used to be treated to the car wash every month or two which never bothered me.
Now i have a more expensive car i still have zero motivation to crack out the bucket and sponge. Its been washed once in the 4 months and 4000 miles ive had it.
On top of this, i live in France, where i cant legally wash my car at home.
So if i put it through the scratch’o’matic 3000, how hard are the scratches likely to be to remove when i come to sell it in 3 years?

Thanks

wyson

Whats the rational for not allowing people to wash cars at home?
Isn’t France festooned with illegal slave labour car wash places like the UK?

Its to stop the chemicals going into the water course.
Switzerland is the same

I found out the hard way that washing your own car at home is a British privilege. Whilst living in Germany in my early 20's I had the audacity to give my car a wash on my driveway hehe

If there's one with a pressure washer where you can take your own stuff, do this. Even if it's just a pre-wash spray to lift the dirt.

After 3 years of running it through a brush car wash you'd be looking for at least a two-stage paint correction which is going to be £500-£1000 depending on how bad it is (in 3 years).

Perhaps look into ceramic coating it now to make jet washing easier in the future?

This is kinda what i wanted to know.
500 - 1000 GBP to me is worth not having to wash it with a bucket and sponge (probably not the sub forum to admit that whistle )

I would imagine a modern auto car wash doesnt use the wire brush type rollers of old so wont be that bad. Just crack on if it suits you.
