Hi all,

Looking for advice / opinion.

I have a 2016 Octavia VRS that has some paint peel on the drivers door and on the bonnet, plus the bonnet has got very dull looking. I took it to a local bodyshop who advised it has previously had a bad paint job and both the bonnet and door need repainting. They've quoted me £550 for this work, seems reasonable?

The car has 90k on it and I know it still has some value but if I could save some money that would be great. Possibly buying the bonnet and door in the correct colour from a breakers? If I did this how unlikely is it the colour would match?

Cheers,

Sounds reasonable enough to me maybe even too cheap based on what ive seen for just a bonnet.
I cant see why the panels wouldnt match if they were an identical colour.

Never had a problem with used panel paint match, providing they have not been painted, if they have, you may have the same problems.

Quality paint, labour, and paint shop running costs, sounds reasonable, blending takes skill and time, and poor paint takes time to remove enough for a good surface to start again with.

Depends on if you have time to search and collect replacement panels, it is the only way to be sure they do not have damage, or arrive damaged, and not previously poorly painted.
