I’ve a couple of stubborn scratches and some stone rash damage on my car, luckily they’re on the bottom of a side skirt and right underneath the rear bumper. Which means they can’t really be seen without looking but obviously I know they’re there…

So having gained experience doing a three stage polish to tidy up some other fine scratches and swirls I feel confident enough to tackle these.

I personally feel that the largely unseen locations mean it’s not worth a trip to the body shop and if I can try a diy I’d love to give it a go.

The road rash is usual enough, it’ll want sanding and spraying. I can get a three stage rattle can system in my cars colour off the net (primer, cockpit and clear coat).

Where I’m not so sure on is wet sanding to blend in this sprayed part and wet sanding some smaller scratches that polishing can’t completely hide.

Do I buy a sandpaper kit? Or would I really only need certain grades for what I want? I can handle a less than perfect finish as it’s mostly unseen and if I make a total hash of it a smart repair can be done anyway. It all looks so easy on TikTok and YouTube!

Sorry for lack of pictures at present but I’m posting from a sun lounger!
