Hello,

I purchased two bottles of Autoglym Ultimate Screenwash from ‘the’ high street auto accessories shop and when I diluted them the first bottle looked like milkshake, slightly fizzing. I have been using this screenwash for years and it had never looked like this so I mixed the second bottle and it was completely normal. Is this a faulty batch or something else? The faulty bottle has a white spirit kind of smell to it.

Both containers were completely clean (and I did a repeat mix in glass jars to double check, same result).

UPDATE:

Sorry for my slow reply Chris (just seen it)!

AutoGlym were exemplary in their customer service, that’s for sure. They were fantastic quite frankly. Their reply regarding the test is pasted below. They sent sample bottles with pre-paid postage and FedEx’d me replacement product immediately.

Quote:
“We have had the results back from our quality control department and the screen wash with the batch number of L3314 was found to have a high pH level. This can sometimes happen at the beginning of production. Please dispose of this product, which is fine to discard down the drain with running water. The screen wash with the batch number of L3177 has been tested and has passed the specification test and it’s fine to use.”

I never actually put the faulty product into my car which I’m glad about, somewhere at the back of my mind I feel like I once read that high pH was bad for paintwork?...I may be wrong though?
