Washed the car today and tried a new product, Turtle Wax Ceramic Wet Wax. Has really good reviews and is applied while the car is still wet to aid with drying and leave a nice finish with decent hydrophobic properties.

Like a moron I didn't properly read the instructions and applied too much product. It was quite windy which made it seem like a lot was missing the car, when it probably wasn't, which contributed to this excess. It's a black car and it looked shocking after drying with streaks everywhere and obvious excess product. Probably not helped by being a hot sunny day. Spent a good 90 minutes going around the car with multiple microfibres to try and buff/remove the excess. It's helped but still obvious streaking in places.

What's the easiest fix for this? Will another shampoo wash remove it or does it need something more than that?

Might be worth trying it again (properly this time) on a test area and see if it removes the smearing. If it does, then you can just go around the car and correct it.

I was thinking that with the amount of product already on the car, washing again and just towel drying without using any more might be a wise move.

Also not sure how much it will have ruined my drying towel having that much product on it.

Try a damp microfibre and then a final buff.

Sounds like it needs a rinse. This sort of product isn’t very good in the heat.

You’ll spend more time going over it all again with a product then washing and drying when it’s cool to touch.
Koch Chemie FSe is a useful product to have.

Yes, that's what I did when I used a similar Turtle Wax product and it worked.

Got up early doors while it was still cool and cloudy to give it a wash and then a very minimal coating of the wet wax while drying and it's come up lovely. Will not be making those mistakes again.

All the versions of TW Hybrid Ceramic have warnings to avoid using too much product and indeed many of the YouTubers also gave out similar warnings - it really is a case of less is more.

As you've found out, applying a little more product often levels it out. Certainly on the bottles of Autoglym Lifeshine that I use, the advice if you've used too much is to wipe more product onto it to dissolve and move the high build away.

Washing a black car in the sun/heat won't help.

I have a black car, our drive gets zero shade I have to wash either 6am or gone 8pm in the summer months.

I’ve had good results with Optimum No Rinse.
Wash a panel, and dry it with a towel straight away. Same for every area around the car.

Doesn’t need messy rinsing and the sun doesn’t get a chance to dry anything out.

Do you not worry about scratches though? Without a pre wash or snow foam I'd be terrified that I'm rubbing grit and dirt around the paintwork

Yeah, I have done it too!

Washing with really hot water helped a bit I think.
Applying more and buffing off with a towel did sort of work.
But I did also ended washing the worse bits off with tar remover!
