Just picked up a 2019 VW Golf 1.5 TSI (150 PS) and the chrome trims on the front bumper and grill are 'cloudy' and discoloured. I would rather try cleaning them before considering replacing them. Any recommendations on a cleaning product available in UK?

I've used a tube of autosol on several of my cars, you don't need much - I still have the same tube from years ago.

VW's seem to be quite poor for chrome trim, I had a 2020 Golf that obviously hadn't been cleaned properly - the chrome trims on the front were awful looking.

Best to ask this in Bodywork and Detailing because often chrome plating on trim is on plastic and I wouldn't use Autosol on that.
I only use Autosol on chrome plated metal or such as stainless exhaust tips.
For chrome plated plastic I just use Autoglym Super Resin Polish.

As above Autoglym SRP should do it.

I used Meguiars Ultimate Compound to bring up the satin metal finish on the window surrounds of my CLS, worked in by hand using a cloth wrapped around my fingers, then coated with ceramic coat. Was quite hard work, but came up like new and has stayed looking good.

I also used the Meguiars Ultimate Compound on the plastic chrome trim on the grille, which had gone a bit dull in places... worked well there too.
