Had a motorway journey just recently and noticed afterwards RH side of bumper was covered in small specks of white grit. Initially thought it was paint. Normal washing does not really shift it, although I don’t really want to scrub too hard.
Not sure how to proceed. Was thinking of soaking with a tar remover of some description.
Was thinking of attaching pictures but they don’t really show the grit. Looks like specks of paint
Any recommendations or ideas greatly appreciated
Thank you

What finish does the bumper have I.e..painted or black plastic?

If painted, I would see if one of the specks can be shifted with finger nail. Clay bar after that.

Bumper is painted body colour, black. I had started using my finger nail but there are dozens upon dozens of the little blighters. Would using tar remover make it any easier??
Thanks for your response

Are you sure it's not road rash? If it is, obviously you won't get them out because the paint been taken away where the tiny grit particles have blasted it. If your bumper has been repainted at some point then even more likelihood, as the protection is never as good as the factory paint.

Tar and glue is worth a try, it will get most stubborn stuff off.

The solvent required depends on what the substance is. Petrol, brake cleaner etc will remove 'tar', but won't touch water-based or epoxy.
Could it be paint... a spillage or a freshly painted line that you've driven through, or that has been blowing off a truck in front?
