Some abject roaster has done this to my car in a car park, on the very week I'm getting it evaluated to trade in. And of course they didn't leave their details. I've been to my local ChipsAway, who want £650 to fix as they think the metal is stretched, requiring a panel respray and blend in to the door. FFS. Anyway, anyone think I can get this sorted reasonably well with a dent puller myself? Not to get it perfect, but to at least fix the worst. My insurance excess is £260 and I had to make 2 non-fault claims in the last 3 years already, because of other people driving into me. So I don't want to claim.

I had something similar sorted for £75 by a dent man. Took about an hour.

Yeah that's what I was hoping. £650, I think this guy is taking the urine.

a true dentman would get that out , or good enough for a trade in

sadly there's dozens of chancers for every skilled man and finding the right one isnt easy

take a look on youtube what some of them can do

Second estimate just in for £500...sigh.

2 more to go.

I think my problem is I'm in the Thames Valley and every tradesman thinks everyone here is Croesus. I'm having similar issues with silly jobs on my house.

Anyway, does anyone think this would do a good enough job to avoid me being knocked down £500 at trade-in?

Try someone else, chips away are well known for pulling your pants down and since they are franchise based you've got no hope in following up an complaint as you in effect dealing with a small local business trading on a household name.

I had my local dent guy pull out c20 door dings on 3 cars across 10 panels for £200. It took him an hour to do.

Your dent is more tricky but it should be less than £150 and closer to £100.

I've never had much luck with the DIY kits. As your dent is on the crease of the arch you'll need some specialist tools and knowledge to bend it back and tap it back down.

Are you on facebook? Ask in the local group (or search) for PDR, Dent removal. I'm sure there will be a local person that does just dents from his van.

+1.

Don't bother buying any of the suckers/glue pullers online & trying it yourself.
You'll just be wasting your money - esp with the one you link, won't do anything for that dent.

If you give an idea as to your location you might get some suggestions.
Leicester area:
www.dent-technique.co.uk (Used to suggest the Leicester one to my own customers as PDR isn't something I did)
www.dentbrothers.co.uk (The other one I used to suggest, used to see them regularly at one of my trade customers)

Thanks, everyone. I won't bother buying the dent puller thing then.

Sadly Leicester is too far for me, if anyone knows 'a guy with a van who just does dents' in the Thames Valley, that would be awesome! I'd be more than happy with £100-150, but sod paying £500-650!!

Where in Thames Valley exactly it about 200 miles long!

I've used one many times in Reading area who i imagine would charge you between £80-£150 to make that as good as new if the paint isnt broken.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Have approached local Dent Devils, they have declined to estimate - "Unfortunately we don't have a technician available to service your enquiry at the moment."
