Re bonding a rear view mirror
Discussion
Stuck the rear view mirror to the screen a few months ago using the Loctite kit. It dropped off today, I think because the car was sat in the warm sunshine. Re-did it tonight but looking at it, i think there's a problem in that the button that attached to the screen is flat and the screen has a bit of a curve to it.
What's everyone's favourite for the job? I recall using a sticky pad in the distant past, not sure how they would stand up to a quite heavy mirror though.

It's not helped by the differing profiles is it Tony... the depth of 'sponge' in the pad needs to be sufficient to compensate for this, but go too thick and you get a wobbler I'm guessing that this is on the Gilbern... who were no different from TVR when it came to raiding parts bins... can you not source the mirror that would have been fitted to the model of car that donated the windscreen?
I buy packs of 3M round and rectangular stickies for attaching various things around the car. Any standard white foam sticky pad will be poor in comparison.
And the trick is preparation, preparation, preparation. I bought a 1 litre bottle of Isopropyl alcohol for around £8 from Amazon. Offer it up and work out the best place to hold it in place with pressure. Then clean the area, then clean with alcohol, let it dry and rub the area hard with a paper towel. Then apply the pad/mirror with pressure - most places recommend 30 secs to a minute, but aim for 2 mins. If the pad/bracket allows the mirror to unhook, then take it off whilst the adhesive cures. Since doing this I've never had a mirror fall off. I remember in my rushed mis-spent yoof constantly re-attaching mirrors because I didn't do it properly.
