Touch-up paint; why is dealer so incompetent?
Discussion
A number of years ago, I ordered a kit of touch up paint and lacquer from BMW dealer, for 62 plate metallic blue 5 series. Think they used either number plate or VIN to get the correct paint.
Applying the paint revealed it to be black, not metallic blue. How can the stupid fk-sticks get that wrong?
Related question: what is best way to get a touch-up pen/ stick, with correct colour match?

Please put all this behind you. Get the paint colour-code before ordering any more paint and relax....

OP - paint code is usually on the sticker on the door frame with the tyre pressures. To be fair I don’t think I e ever had any touch up paint from anywhere that matches perfectly.
You could try someone like chip ex, I got some from them and they go on about 100% colour match guarantee. I got to the basket/cart stage and it said your paint doesn’t qualify for our 100% guarantee. To be fair to them, they were right, the colour didn’t match at all.
I wanted to try dr colour something or other and they seemed to have stopped trading in the uk at the time.
Whatever you end up getting, go into expecting the colour not to match at all, then you can only be pleasantly surprised with the results.

Lada Rivas conveniently used to come with a little can of touch up paint in the boot when new. Not a bad match of colour too
In the west you touch up the paint... in soviet Russia, paint touches up you.No?
Sure it wasn't a spray on disguise so no-one could see you were driving a Lada Riva?
