Was the unfortunate participant in a non fault accident, and my BMW 1 series has taken a reasonably significant knock. Its a 2017 worth approx £15k on a good day, possibly slightly less (a lot less now).

I wanted to get opinions on whether it is likely to be written off or repaired, the assessor has taken over a week to collect the car so Im unlikely to hear until towards the end of next week, and if it is likely it's a write off I need to get car shopping as I didn't take the courtesy car option (daft I know...) and need a car.

What isnt obvious is that the wheel is actually bent out of place and is pointing slightly inwards at the front, and being a RWD I assume this means some level of axle damage? possibly just wheel hub though:

Im gonna say thats a goner. New wing, bumper, light cluster, probably a few suspension bits and bumper beam, and thats if the chassis isnt bent. Id get shopping.

I thought the same really, just had a £525 main dealer service and 4 new tires too😞

I really looked after that little car, think I’ll be moving to a PCP to afford something I really want.

That's an insurance write off all day long.

Lack of courtesy car for non-fault is unusual. I assume your own insurer must be handling the claim directly?

Our (limited) experience is own insurer wrote a car off when repairer (and us, we’d also just spent a lot on it) wanted to repair it. In another case, 3rd party insurer insisted on repaired a car that was 100% a write off (heavy t-bone) in everyone else’s eyes.

That’s a really good point, i didn’t actually push my insurance company on a courtesy car that they could then claim back from the person at faults insurance, lesson learned as I never knew that was a potential option.
